I have little problem with Hef, the person. At least he is not a hypocrite.

He had a happy, secure childhood, he admits, but he feared ending up like his parents,

what a shame - He deserves the prayers of all Christians

What a disappointment he must have been to them.

His magazine might be sinking, but thanks to porn he's still rich.

There is absolutely no basis in this article for any intimation that Heffner 'owns' the porn industry.

A title like that, and a super long post to boot. This post is a lot like a meatless subway sandwich.

The point is that Playboy owns most of the porn channels on cable or satellite. Not the studios themselves. Guccione and Goldstein stayed in print and went bust.

Frankly what better metaphor for Playboy is there than that the actresses who pose in it are professionally on the way down.

It is also WHEN Playboy came out. A new class of urban professionals emerged at a time when labor saving devices and instant/frozen foods meant a man could have hot meals and clean clothes without having to support a wife. All that new disposable income could be spent on Thunderbirds, pony cars, hi-fi's, and the swank, space-age, double martini bachelor pad. The whole Rat Pack lifestyle WAS the Playboy man.

When I see Hefner now, I see a man terrified of old age and death, pathetically clinging to youth.

Hypocrisy, as we all know, is the worst of all sins.
After all it doesn't matter what you espouse or do as long as you are up front about it.

I don't know. I see one of the great American capitalists, enjoying his success.

And I don't even buy his magazine.

I agree, he is a capitalist and he is enjoying his success.

The same system that allows a person like Hef to flourish also allows all of us "hypocrites" to call him out for the damage his product and philosophy has caused.

I'm pretty sceptical of this story and require numerous photographic examples in high resolution.

Hah! I know, what a disappointment, an article about Playboy and no visual aids.

What a gyp.

Yeah, having to read all those big long words without some porno is really hard.

True. Go ahead.

But I wouldn't recommend the adolescent psychobabble that Sam the Sham was spouting. It doesn't help his case.

Apparenly PlayBoy played a very important role during Vietnam. Porn will never go away no matter how much people wish it to be so.
