Hmm if I remember correctly Germany and France were both in violation of european law for running structural budget deficits. Ah the hypocracy. Ah the politics!

Not only is Germany running an illegal deficit, Germany was the country who pushed for the law that most other EU nations opposed regarding deficits. Germany, seen as the primary economic power at the outset of the EU was listened to (for good or bad) and the law was inacted.

Shortly thereafter Germany started running afoul of the law and attempted to get the law changed.

Maybe if we could get Germany and France to repay us for the Marshall Plan expeditures in rebuilding their sorry countries, we'd have a surplus right now.

Well its clear that Germany and France would like to have a European President of the US. Maybe they think Kerry will agree to surrender our sovereignty to the EU, so that France can rule the world?
