'Go balloons, go balloons! Go balloons! I don't see anything happening. Go balloons! Go balloons! Go balloons! Standby confetti. Keep coming, balloons. More balloons. Bring it- balloons, balloons, balloons! We want balloons, tons of them. Bring them down. Let them all come. No confetti. No confetti yet.

'No confetti. All right, go balloons, go balloons. We need more balloons. All balloons! All balloons! Keep going! Come on, guys, lets move it. Jesus! We need more balloons. I want all balloons to go, goddammit. Go confetti. Go confetti. More confetti. I want more balloons. What's happening to the balloons? We need more balloons.

'We need all of them coming down. Go balloons- balloons? What's happening balloons? There's not enough coming down! All balloons, what the hell! There's nothing falling! What the f*ck are you guys doing up there? We want more balloons coming down, more balloons. More balloons. More balloons'...

>What f*cking losers!

If the 'Rats can't hire
sane, competent folk to run
their convention, then

how the heck can we
expect the 'Rats to manage
the war and country?!

anyone notice that they used a Van Halen (Sammy hagar) song at the end. Sammy Hagar gave 1000 bucks to the Bush campaign this year. Bush would haver used a David Lee Roth song, the real Van Halen mind you.

As noted elsewhere, balloons = latex and hot, stale air - characteristic of the Dem party.

I really don't see the big deal. Try planning something that big and having to coordinate all the little things. Then, at the climactic moment, you have to have all this stuff come togeher and it starts to unravel (a little). Yeah, it's only balloons and confetti. But you don't take a half-assed attitude when your entire party and the entire US media is watching.

I'll complain when it's been posted 100 times and not before!

There is more to the balloon drop than meets the eye.

Evidently the balloons wouldn't drop on the Carter convention in 1980 and it became a metaphor for the entire presidency. He couldn't free the baloons, no wonder he couldn't free the hostages.

The dems wanted to make sure the balloons dropped perfectly and were frantic at that image from Carter being repeated.

I'd say we owe CNN a big thank you.

The songs are owned by the publishing companies, not the writers.

I despise Hagar, especially the song you hear played at NASCAR races on NBC.

Hope the FCC fines him for profanities on air.

I agree the timing was off, and that it was a little awkward, BUT...

It is a sad, sad day when we judge an event nominating a candidate for POTUS by whether it smoothly maintains a made-for-TV schedule.

Pundits don't want to say it, nor do most FReepers, so I'll say it: Who gives a rat's a$$ whether they had a few minutes of downtime waiting for the networks to come online?

"Excuse me? That kind of language is never appropriate in the House or the Senate. I don't care what party you are with, I don't care if you're related to me. If you have to resort to profanity, it just means you have not mastered the English language."

Yes, yes...profanity is the feeble effort of a small mind attempting to express itself forcibly and all of that. But...I think with that particular incident, Cheney chose the right couple of words and, in his brevity, got the point across. Worked for me anyway and I think the House and the Senate will survive.

Btw. I register as an Independent, I don't think we're related and you're excused. :)
