BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell made an unannounced trip to Baghdad early Friday for talks with top Iraqi officials, including the country's new president, Ghazi al-Yawer.

U.S. Embassy spokesman Bob Callahan said Powell was met at Baghdad International Airport by U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, John D. Negroponte. Powell is the highest ranking American official to visit since Iraq's interim government took power on June 28.

Callahan told The Associated Press that Powell is expected to hold talks Friday with al-Yawer and Iraq's deputy prime minister, Barham Saleh.

What a difference between parties. While some are riding that donkey, the other party is actually doing things.

Ummmm ... Didn't Kerry just tell us all tonight that this Admistration doesn't do anything right?

BTW ... when was it that Kerry went to Iraq?

I have to wonder which news source will say it first, 'Powell's leaving the Bush administration'. That'll be the news instead of what he went to Baghdad for.

Don't start rumors like that. You could be a "source" for the dim witted left wing press in their article claiming Powell's leaving.... Just like their "sources" about Cheney being dropped from the ticket.

I hope he doesn't end up like Ron Brown. That would really suck.

I'm sure it was easy for Powell to find the Iraqi dignitaries, since they were undoubtedly all glued to their chairs, watching every syllable of Kerry's acceptance speech.

Don't question his patriotism. Don't you know he served in VietNam?

You're kidding right? The only press Powell ever gets from liberal sources is that he's leaving the White House.

Liberal press don't need much provocation to spin a lie, I've noticed that too.

Why would Bill Clinton kill Colin Powell?

Don't start rumors like that

The liberals started that rumor the day after Powell was sworn in as SoS

Of course I am kidding. The liberal press will use whatever gossip or innuendo is out there and claim it as their "source," if it advances the cause of the DNC, the democrats, and socialism in America.
