No. The "Anybody But Bush" gang amounts to about 20% of the electorate. They're the fire-breathers. They hated Bush before January 20, 2001. Another 20-22% of the electorate are simply kneejerk Democrats who don't have to worry very much about straining their brain, or pulling away from "American Idol," because they'll vote for the Democrat regardless of his moral and personal failings.

I figure that only about 45% of the people who vote are moderately to solidly conservative. That leaves only about 13% who are truly up for grabs. Unfortunately, these are fairly apathetic, and have no allegience one way or another. They'll vote according to the last well-produced campaign ad they see before heading to the polling place. We only need about half of these to win. So, the fate of the nation rests with about 6% of people who have no real convictions, who sway in the breeze. Scary. (IMHO)

Thanks for taking the time to respond with some numbers--yes, scarey. I was watching something on FNC a few weeks ago and I believe Dr Dobson was on and said that in 2000, the turn-out for Evangelicals was low (but he didn't say why)--maybe with all the moral issues in the forground (ie: gay marriage, stem cell research and PBA), there will be a better turn out from that segment this election year (if what was said about low turn-out was true).
