There is something horribly wrong with this picture just past the reaches of my ability to explain.

Four months in country....4 months in country....4 months...

My uncle (4 years older than me) was killed in the Tet Offensive. He was in about his 9th month in country when he died.

My son has been in Iraq now for over 5 months.

I spent a 20 year career in the military and I never, ever heard anyone brag about coming home early when others spent the entire tour where they were supposed to be.

Ever.

I simply do not understand how this 4 months is overlooked by those parts of America that were touched by the Vietnam War....by any of our wars.

It simply doesn't smell right.

When I worked for a large corporation, you could always tell how useless someone was by how easily you could transfer them. If someone had value, and you wanted them, you had to negotiate a deal with his or her superior. If they were deadwood and you unsuspectingly asked for them, you got GREAT cooperation.

I'm wondering if F'n asked to go home and the general consensus was "Yeah, get going, we're better off without you.".
