Sovereign nation, eh? And what is Israel, if not a sovereign nation?
As a sovereign nation, Israel is permitted to undertake actions deemed necessary for the continued survival and safety of its people.
So they stepped on some Italian toes. well, these things happen, of ocurse, and this is why the gods of diplomacy invented the letter of apology. I do not doubt that Israel would have sought extradition if it was thought the best way to ensure his speedy return; they opted against it, no doubt for reasons of expediency and secrecy. bad enough to have a spy spilling the beans, even worse to have to go through some ritualized legal prceeding in another country to get him back.
"star chamber"? A bit melodramatic, don't you think? I myself would never want to face such a panel, naturally, but then I am unlikely to do anything which could bring me to such a body's attention, unlike poor old Mordechai.

If Israel deemed nuclear weapons necessary for the continued survival and safety of its people and an American President stood in the way,you are not suggesting actions against the U.S. Constitution would be justified in securing nuclear weapons for Israel, are you?
