"This stinks to high heaven."

You are so right. The entire DNC 2004 "platform" stinks to high heaven. Strange though that the enviro-whackos and the media won't call the Dims on it.

No kidding. This is total BS. In fact, there whole show is total BS. On the one hand, Bush/Cheney should be flattered because all they are doing is imitating BC and co-opting all their proposals; imitation is the sincerest form of flattery afterall. However, they are being totally disingenuous. I hope to GOD they don't get away with it.

But coal generates more CO2 per BTU than petroleum. Are the DemocRATS for Kyoto or aren't they?

Not union jobs but electoral votes. If Gore had won WVA, he would have been President.

Did the union-loving democrats cross the Boston Police Union picket lines to get into Fleet Center?

What's happened to all that Police Union Picket Line business, not a peep from the media?

Coal. I remember something about coal and the Toon admin. And the Riadys, maybe. Something about someone, thanks to the Toon admin, having a lock on the supply of anthracite (I think) coal. That ring a bell with anyone?

Geez, yes... let me hunt thru my old files... man, I had a time finding these!

Let's see F'n try to explain in the debates why he's for coal and against drilling for oil in ANWR. Come to think about it, this may be the first time a challenger refuses to debate the incumbent.

Guess the next thing they will ask for is horse and buggies again.

Yes, but even there they forget how disgusting it was to have streets strewn with horse manure. And that horse has to eat.

Except the "clean" coal (as I understand it) is all in the West -- one of the largest areas, Escalante Staircase, was made a national area by Clinton after urging from people like R. Redford, and I don't think can be mined. The people in Utah were very upset about it at the time. Other thing is most of the mining/coal in the West is owned by Canadian companies (I don't think that's changed) and US gets cents on the dollar back... I think this is to appease the enviros who want to dismantel a lot of the power-producing dams (even though we need water desperately).
