George McGovern thinks America's two major problems in the post-9/11 world is poverty in the Arab world and a strong Israel. And he endorsed John F*ckin.' As Farah noted, there's not much difference between the two in terms of the Francophile policy they want America to pursue for the rest of the decade. In short, McGovern helps to make the case for why the Democrats should not be trusted with our national security.

After he lost his bid for the Presidency, McGovern opened a Bed & Breakfast Inn up north. When he went bankrupt a few years later, he said ( I paraphrase) , "Well, I guess I never realized when I was in Congress that all the laws I helped pass would make it so difficult for the small businessman to succeed."
The periodic rememberance of that is like a sip of fine brandy. Unfortunately, such candor is not usually McGovern's forte.
