Presidents can serve two four-year terms — a total of eight years.

Love that bit of civics they throw in.

Presidents can have also served the remaining time from the previous president for whom they were VP when the president dies in ofice. And if the VP serves less than 2 years of the old guy's term, he can run for a full 2 terms after that, making one day shy of 10 years the most you can be president now.
