I sometimes worry about over-reliance on the watch list. If Al Qaeda has any ability to read the news, they'll learn--quite quickly--that all they need to do to penetrate security is to use guys whose names are not on a watch list. I still hope they searched whatever containers they were looking for.

Thanks BCA. I was looking for more information, not a bunch of wise cracks.

Ping me if you hear any more about this.

You disagree that the PC people aren't putting us in danger? Often when waiting for "news" a little humor added. It's good for the soul. You are right to your opinion but I'm right to mine also. I understand how you feel and please don't be offended by this but are you responding exactly as the terrorist want us to? Afraid? Do I have concerns? Of course. I pray none of our babies harmed but I'm not going to give them the satisfaction of freaking me out if I can help it.

Most freepers, unlike yourself, are very polite and helpful. I was looking for information, hopefully from some local freepers.

You have no problem throwing out smart remarks but don't seem to be able to handle criticism very well. Speaks volumes of you. Run along and play now.

***Containers "of interest" are being sought, the port director told reporters, but he wouldn't say any more.*** This is curious as well.

Like most these reports, this is probably the last we'll hear about it. Tomorrow, the FBICIANEADHSTSA will report that the containers of interest contained 14 Syrians going to the California desert to play a batmitzva. An FBI agent will be quoted as saying, "While some people might consider travel in a container to be unusual, none of the occupants were on a the watch list and they all had South African passports, so we let them go."

I went back and found one new line in the article:

"The Palm Beach Princess cruise ship has been told to stay out to sea."

Seems like they are being VERY cautious for a simple case of mistaken identity.

...17 out of the 34 posts made on this thread (at the time I'm typing this) are a waste of time for the rest of us ....

Us? If you had said it was a waste of time for you, that would have been fine. But this "us" stuff just sounds so communal.

>> Person of interest. Containers of interest.

> He says they (leo's) are scared to call people

There's likely an evolving legal/procedural distinction
between Interests and Suspects, and just calling them
"suspicious" doesn't adequately make the distinction.

For example, I wouldn't be surprised if a "Suspect" has
to be read their rights before being asked a question.

How one advises a container of its rights is a bit
amusing to contemplate. I own one, but can't ever recall
speaking to it, well except when the latch won't close :-).

Snarky!

I didn't notice any criticism BTW... just whining, as if I should have known your particular unique situation and taken it into account on this thread.

Be careful, containers are downright sneaky these days. I see a whole shipload out my window right now, sitting at port, and they're all... staring... at me....

Sorry, what was I saying?
