WASHINGTON -- Jul-27 -- (CongressDaily) Former Attorney General Janet Reno remains a celebrity among Florida Democrats two years after narrowly losing a primary election for governor to a little-known Tampa lawyer.
Reno spoke to the delegation Monday and scored a floor seat for the speech of her one-time boss, former President Clinton, Monday night. Her appearance Tuesday drew a crowd of autograph seekers and fans who posed for pictures. And BBC radio stopped her in the hall for an interview -- where she proved she has not lost her prowess for setting the media straight.
Asked whether presumptive Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry would make America safer and whether he would repeal parts of the anti-terrorism law known as the USA PATRIOT Act, Reno provided a rambling answer -- prompting a second question. "This can't be analyzed in a two-minute sound bite,'' she retorted.
Reno said she is helping to make sure voting in Florida this year is done without mishap. The polls opened late during the September 2002 Florida primary, and many strategists blame the voting malfunctions for Reno's loss.
Yeah she was a real favorite in the last FLA governors race.
If Reno had done her job instead of kidnapping Cuban kids in Miami and cheerleading for Willie, we'd be a lot safer today!
She's such a lovely woman, inside and out, how could anyone not love her.
