push the picture.... get it out there, it really doesn't matter what the Dems say. It is a very damaging picture and Kerry didn't have to pose for it.

That's the real story here, the story the media's desperately trying to paper over. NASA gave the photos to the Kerry campaign for review after the tour was over, and the campaign actually splattered the pictures all over their web site. It was only after the public started laughing hysterically at this dork that they realized they had stepped on their cranks.

That the campaign didn't see just how ridiculous Kerry looked, or even worse, didn't seem to have the slightest clue as to how the Bush campaign might use those photos (even more amazing when you consider how they tried to pummel Bush over those flight suit pictures), speaks volumes about how faulty their judgment really is. And then they actually try to pass these obviously posed photos off as a hatchet job by some nebulous member of the VRWC with a digicam in his shorts. That suggests something even worse - an Algorean tendency to immediately start lying and spinning when caught in a tight spot, to utterly refuse to admit they screwed up, take responsibility for it, and move on.

They could have just laughed this one off, acknowledged that yeah, they goofed up, but hey, that's life and it's just a picture. The comics would have had a chuckle over it for a day or two, but it would have been quickly forgotten. But these Rats are so anxious to portray any snag as a "vicious Republican attack" that the thought of laughing it off never even crossed their minds.
