I think Bush should support the ban, if and only IF, someone could show him evidence that it did anyhting to reduce crime. That will never happen, so he should just stay where he is.

I sure hope that you were being sarcastic, because:

a) There are lies, damned lies and statistics. The easiest thing to do is to distort reality using some kind of tainted statistical analysis. The Dems do it all the time, ESPECIALLY when it comes to guns.

b) I couldn't care less if crime declined with the AWB and rose after it expired. The concept of "rights" for the vast majority of (law-abiding) citizens is utterly independent of the criminal actions of a few morally and/or mentally deficient people. The most vital right is the right to defend one's self, family, freedom and country. Any law that infringes upon such a right is completely illegitimate.
