Bush rocks. Thanks Mr. President, for standing by NASA when it needs it most.
"President George W. Bush's new space exploration plan has received a burst of hard-core support in Congress, aimed at blocking any attempt to cut its funding, and backed up by a rare veto threat from the president himself."
"For a sitting President in an election year to threaten to veto a bill containing appropriations for veterans and housing because of its space spending provisions is a clear signal Bush has not backed away from his space plan. It also is another sign NASA administrator Sean O'Keefe's legislative strategy -- what some have called a game of political "chicken" -- has several layers in place before supporter's options are exhausted."
I hope the new initiative survives the game of "Chicken" so we can get moving along soon.
NASA already operates on a shoestring budget. It's truly a shame that they're having to scrap so much of the rest of their science because they've been ordered to go to Mars. NASA's been hitting at the heart of how our universe began and the nature of matter. Without their help, all the private research on the subject will be drastically slowed.
I would invite you or anyone who wants to help to join the National Space Society or Planetary Society, There was a gallup poll recently that showed 68% of the public supports the new Space Initiative. This is amazing support.
60% of Democrats even! I know I couldnt believe that one either. Now is the time for the public to let the politicians know we support Space exploration.
That's not happening. 'Science' missions will increase. Robotics missions will increase. Manned flight that goes someplace will increase. Take another look, it isn't either/or but a huge increase in program efficiency that you will see.
bump!
Good news.
