ISLAMABAD: Love or parental consent are factors that usually decide a marriage, but believe it or not, you can also toss a coin now to procure a life partner.

At least that's what happened with a woman in Jaranwala, Pakistan, recently.

Casting aside established norms of societal behaviour, a woman was married off for the second time without divorcing her first husband. The matter naturally created quite a stir in the tribal-dominated area. So much so, that it was referred to the local Jirga or tribal council.

Instead of stamping its authority in a conservative manner as is the norm, the elders of the jirga opted for a more modern solution i.e. tossing a coin

So next is where they kill the woman for marrying two men and dishonoring them, right?

You are right. First toss the coin and next butcher the victim.

And THIS is the kind of religious-political system the farleftist feminazis are supporting.

Amazing.

Its as amazing as some Jewish Americans voting for Hezbollah's Choice for President - John Kerry.

By the toss of a coin, jirga decides a woman’s fate

JARANWALA: A jirga decided a woman’s fate by tossing a coin. The woman married for a second time without divorcing her first husband and the issue was referred to a jirga, which decided the matter by the toss of a coin. Her neighbour in Hussain Colony, Molvi Arshad, told Daily Times, that on May 29 Mr Naseem married the daughter of Mr Abdul Latif in Tehsil Farozwala. Her marriage was registered at Union Council 79/3 Ferzowala. Later the girl’s father wed her to Mr Muhammad Boota of Anwarabad Jaranwala. The matter was taken to the jirga and they tossed a coin to decide which marriage would be considered valid. Mr Naseem won the toss, which was opposed by the colony members. Sources also said that nobody paid heed to the girl’s will and even the police did not take up the matter. wasim qadri

Not really. Notice the article placed the incident in a "tribal-dominated area." In areas like that the old tribal customs and beliefs are mixed with the newer Islam, and sometimes they appear to be Muslim in name only. You see this in Africa a lot with the female circumcision.

It just goes to show how much there is to lose, if a "sanctity of marriage act" isn't passed.

I suppose that US feminazi's would not mind a village council determining one's husband or wife. After all, as Hillary said, "it takes a village!" (/sarcasm)

Was a bride-price paid for the bride? Could that be why the girl's father married her twice?
