The world's first-ever transsexual beauty pageant made a splash in Las Vegas last weekend at the Riviera Hotel and Casino -- and ET was there!
"They're going to get glamour, glitz and the classiest, most beautiful women in the world," pageant host JAHNA STEELE told our own JANN CARL before the event. "The hook, if you will, is that they are all transsexual."
The 35 contestants of "The World's Most Beautiful Transsexual Contest" had to show proof of their original gender to qualify. The winner ultimately received $5,000 and a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands!
"People will see beautiful bodies, they'll see gorgeous evening gowns," Jahna said before the event. "I think they'll see a night of fun and I would like to think that everyone will leave with a bit more awareness."
A former altar boy, Jahna was 19 when she had sexual-reassignment surgery to change into a woman. Voted Las Vegas' sexiest showgirl in the 1980s before her sex change secret got out, she married a man whom she describes as "an angel" when she was 23. Although Jahna found it difficult to tell her fiancé at the time that she had once been a man, she found the courage to tell him six months into their marriage -- and they remained together for almost five years.
Unfortunately, she walked away from the union because she confesses that she thought she could "do better" at the time, but reveals that if she hadn't left him, they would still be together today. Now after battling her own addictions and others' prejudice, she's achieved her dream of participating in the first-ever transsexual beauty pageant.
"For so many years it's been so hard for us to live a life and to change from one gender to another without going through incredible amounts of pain, yet incredible amounts of growth," says Jahna. "I believe we've all survived a trip to hell and back and lived to tell about it."
Watch ET for more of Jahna and the first-ever transsexual beauty pageant!
This is probably more information than I'm looking for, but wouldn't the doctor remove the prostate along with the family jewels? What good is a prostate once they are gone?
Uh, the prostate does have a function....I don't remember what though...Oh yeah, Lube!
