If you stuff the envelopes full of weights, the Post Office will discard it as junk. Bad ideas also include putting any biological matter in the envelope, or any powdery substance.

The simplest and most effective method is either just send the letter back in the metered envelope, or fill out the forms pledging a decent amount, but omit the check. The latter option is only for those willing to continue to receive mailings reminding them of the pledge.

Re: my previous.... the second option could be considred unethical (pledging money you do not intend on contributing) so bear that in mind if going that route.
