This post has new info - it says there were multiple reports of parachutists in two separate locations. It also says the reports were made by Military Police, not by nutcase civilians (who may also have seen them). It also uses the words "additional reports" - plural, meaning it wasn't just the one National Guardsman who saw them.
Last night's post by Karl implied that the response to the apartment may have simply been to talk to someone who thought they saw the SAME parachutists as were seen at the Federal building. This report indicates they were separate incidents, with separate parachutists landing at the apartment.
Now it's reasonably possible that a single National Guard guy may have imagined seeing parachutists... but it's NOT reasonably possible that multiple people imagined multiple parachutists at multiple locations.
So either there was a mini Red Dawn, or not. Or the story is in the process of being buried. Now, are we all clear as mud??
But. But. But! They wouldn't LIE to us would they?!?!?!

I'm leaning towards this being some kind of late training exercise or just some rumor that's being floated to throw off the you-know-who's.
What I don't get is why the bad guys would go after the Dem's convention...
Doesn't strike me as a viable 'Red Dawn' scenario insertion technique in this situation. Too many people would see it and have their attention drawn to it. A better bet might be to put on a Kerry button and act stupid and enthusiastic, and take a bus in. Nobody would have noticed them.

Ok - another theory - this was a test by our guys to .....
..see if our security is on the ball
..check out the possibility that access this way could be accomplished by the terrorists and then plug the security holes to prevent such.
..a dry run to find the obstacles in place should our elite forces have to accomplish any kind of assault/rescue utilizing this type entry. Would need to be done close to the time of the convention so that all security elements were in place and active.
I tend to believe this is what is going on - and I appreciate the thoroughness of our Secret Service/Homeland Security people.
Been at work all day. But the local 24 hr news radio afternoon man was talking about this. Seems there is some legit reporting on it. The report of parachutists on the Tip O'Neill bldg. was made at about midnight by a guardsman. There were subsequent calls to Boston police --people calling saying they saw parachutes. But it seems no one has gotten to the bottom of it.
