That he was married before the cancer. At any rate, I read a book on cycling that basically said this guy has no life whatsoever, INCLUDING his kids, other than cycling.

His wife was working for a sponsor of the Ride for the Roses, Lance's Austin-based race to benefit cancer. Lance dated another woman when he had cancer, but I've read where he said cancer either makes people grow closer or exhausts them, and for them it was the latter.

I've often wondered if the single-minded purposefulness of a world-class athlete (or corporation's CEO, for that matter) leaves much time for personal lives. In the end training, cancer benefits and endorsements deals likely left him with little time/energy for family.

I understand. That's why I said "priorities." You know, he could have been satisfied with 2-3 of the things---he would have known he was the best ever---and still had a family. Usually, when this happens to someone in business, people say, "What a cad! What a jerk." But when it's athletes who are very successful (Herb Brooks was another from what I understand), people overlook it.
