NFL Shocker: Williams To Retire?
Is he another Robert Smith? Is he bothered by persistent drug rumors? Whatever the reason, Dolphins star running back Ricky Williams, 27, has told the team he is retiring after just five NFL seasons, ESPN's Dan Le Batard reports.

I think it is a fear that Ditka will relent and run for the US Senate and he will have to put up with reliving that stupid picture of him in a wedding dress. :-)

This is HYOOGE news down here. As big as Shaq going to the Heat. That guy was always a headcase. I hope he finds the peace he seeks.

Doubtful.
I have it on good source that he is a cakeboy and has been since his days at Texas. Prolly the wellspring of his continuing mental instability.
Sad state of affairs [no pun intended].

This is HYOOGE news down here. I'm still trying to figure out why it's news at all. Are these people conservatives or work for Kerry? Maybe just protesters at the Dim convention? I thought I was on a conservative news forum. Musta got on a sports form by accident. Sorry!

As a Saints fan I agree, Buh Bye dudette. I'm sure there will be a "Rickey comes out of retirement", and a " Rickey comes out of retirement II" scenario. Bottom line, a slacker!! Any bets as to how long before he'll be broke?

Good, less competition for LT this year for rushing yard leader. :P

On second thought. That means one less high scoring running back to be in my FFL's draft. I'll have to make sure I get a high drafting number to get a good RB this year.

What a punk move by Williams to do it at this point and totally leaving his team hanging. He had to have seen the reports that Eddie George was going to be released, or that the Patriots had let go of Antowain Smith. He killed his team's chances to get an experienced replacement.
