SECURITY was stepped up to protect Tour de France race leader Lance Armstrong after the American received threats before the Alpe d'Huez stage midweek, race director Jean-Marie Leblanc revealed today.

"There were threats against Lance Armstrong and we took these into account," said Leblanc, without giving details of the threats.

Hundreds of thousands of spectators lined the 15.5km climb up the legendary Alpe d'Huez on Wednesday to see Armstrong move closer to a record sixth Tour de France title.

His current girlfriend probably won't let him do THAT this year...

Hey France - you mess with Lance and we'll Tomahawk the Louvre.

Oh rats rear. Those missiles cost money. I know a bunch of 15 year old girl scouts going to Switzerland next summer and I'm sure they can stop by and handle the French.

I guess after you and your wife decide that you should not longer be married, you should go hive in a cave or become a monk.

My mother-in-law went into a spitting rage about Lance leaving his wife for a younger woman when she saw him on the TV. Many women just lose it when it comes to these things. Piece of advice: don't do it.

Crow is about 8-10 years older than Kristin Armstrong.

Which one is carrying on publicly with a new girlfriend?

Well only one has a new girl friend, but the ex wife has had a new boy friend since before the break up. Ask an Austin cop.

Way to go, Lance. How soon the French forget what the U.S.A. did for them in WWII. Boy, what a bunch of whinny sore loosers!

#86..Well jern, I hope that day never happens.

FWIW, my grandmother was widdowed at age 45, and she never remarried...

....and lived to 85.

(she said she would never find anyone as special as Grandpa.)

Name the cop?

No I will not, but if you look back through my posts for the last couple of years you will note that I have a brother-in-law who is a horse mounted patrolman on 6th Street in Austin.

I would say he, and his friends are a better source, given that he mentioned this a year ago, then you with no source are. Frankly I don't care if you believe it or not, given that you attack Armstrong without cause.

#94..Look, I'm not here to argue with you.

I have my opinion, you have yours.

I'm just bothered that there are 3 little kids, only toddlers, and the daddy is just fine running around with the likes of Sheryl Crow.

Maybe that's fine with you.....but I'm a bit oldfashion.

Either way, Austin is a lovely town, and I think Texas is terrific!

Wow, I stand corrected - or rather, my mother-in-law does. She's the one who portrayed this as the classic man-leaves-older-wife-for-much-younger-woman story. I can't wait to correct her.... ;o)

Now who left whom? You decide.

Since it's entirely none of your business and no one knows the real answer except for the two of them, I would suggest you simply decide to mind your own.

Now who left whom? You decide.

Neither of us knows who left whom. I freely admit that; you're the one who insists that you have some special insight. Furthermore, it's rumored that Kik has had a boyfriend since they broke up.

Perhaps you're unfamiliar with divorce, but ex-spouses do sometimes *gasp* date other people.

If you intend to continue down this line of Lance-bashing without any facts whatsoever, by all means continue. It looks decidedly small-minded and foolish, but perhaps you're okay with that.

#98..Shadow Dancer, this is a Free Republic forum.

We are here because we can freely give our opionions, right/wrong/indifferent.

I'm not sure why my opinion bothers you so much, unless you think I'm influencing others?

Personally, as a mom, I can't see where the first wife had the time to take on extra marital, due to having 3 babies in 5 years.....

I don't care for the likes of Sheryl Crow....that's my opinion.
I don't like Sheryl Crow dissing my President every chance she gets!
I don't care for the likes of Crow/Armstrong's public kissing contest when the divorce papers are barely cool.....if, in fact, the divorce has gone through.

That's my opinion too!
