Understand that it isn't the AWB that is important to them, it's that some firearms may be demonized and made illegal just because the anti-gunners want to that is the issue. The law prevented no crimes or "gun violence," but it was an assertion of arbitrary state power that could well be expanded on in the desired directions. Now it cannot.

What they're objecting to isn't that people will die as a result, because they know perfectly well that it isn't true - the law was predicated on a lie. What they're objecting to is the loss of a mechanism that they had every intention to use to do precisely those things they piously swore they would never do: identify gun owners, demonize them, and justify state intervention in disarming them by force. In that regard this is a setback, and I thank God for it.

I couldn't have said it better. Diane Feinstein is determined to make this her senate goal. It's not the 19 weapons now banned or the cosmetic issues. It's about her actively trying to ban all weapons regardless of caliber. Her one woman "pissing" parade is about to get ugly once again.
