There were about 200 eyewitness reports, from land, sea, plane, etc. Pilots, passengers, drivers, fishermen, etc. That's why the coverup was so hard. That's why the FBI took over the investigation, and buried these reports, and the normal investigators were not allowed to investigate,

I've read about them. I've read a lot of them. According the eyewitnesses the missile came from the sea, except for those who claim it caim from the shore. Some have it heading east, some west, some south, some north. Some say it was red, some white, some pink or yellow. I've served on DDG and FFG ships in the Navy. I participated in several missile shoots, two at night. And none of those description come close to matching what a Navy Standard surface to air missile looks like. And the Standard was the only missile on any of the ships in the area.

I don't know that the Navy shot down TWA800. IMO the investigation was so totally FU'd that there is no telling who did it, not now. But I do know there were several conflicting stories about where the Navy was when it happened.
