True, but those questions posed by Bush were devastating, and they appeal to the AA community in the only way Republicans really have a chance. AA are an extremely pragmatic people. He pointed the fundamental weaknesses of the Democrats and the AA community's undying loyalty to them.

This is probably the most effective appeal a Republican has made to this constituency in decades!

It won't translate immediately to significant votes, but it will start some very important and long overdue conversations.

He only needs about 10% more of them to turn the election. And to the others, I saw both this and Kerry's speech to the NAALCP. Kerry tried not to drone but he couldn't help it. It was a typical pompous windbag performance full of him trying to be "down wi' da' brotha's and sistah's" and all about himself. Bush WAS himself. Not polished, but very sincere, positive, and full of hope and encouragement.

I fear the masses of the "Black Community" might prefer the preachy sKerry style.
