With labor supply over seas a near endless thing, supply of labor is no longer a bargaining point. The bargaining point becomes the standard of living of the populace you are exploiting for cheap labor. This is why I say supply and demand is broken. The balancing factors for wage were supply of labor vs. supply of jobs. You'd have to run through several billion chinamen before what the local market has to say has any bearing. This is why jobs that a few short months ago were paying 12-15 bucks an hour are now paying 9 or less depending on where it is in the US. And wages will continue to fall. I can point to two examples of this an hour away. I think most here can. Supply and demand is now broken. It's all now in the favor of business - period. Bring on the talking points.

It isn't "broken", it's just that the rest of the world can't be excluded from this law either.

"The balancing factors for wage were supply of labor vs. supply of jobs. You'd have to run through several billion chinamen before what the local market has to say has any bearing."

If you believe that every worker on the planet is identical in his or her work ethic or skill set, then this might be true. But it's not.

"This is why jobs that a few short months ago were paying 12-15 bucks an hour are now paying 9 or less depending on where it is in the US."

Which jobs are these? Wages for clerical workers and falling as far as I can tell and I've been in this line of work for 17 years. Maybe you should look at moving into clerical/white collar work. If you can spell well, good with math, can type, and show up to work every day and get the work out, you'll be fine. IT'S TIME TO STOP WEDDING YOURSELF TO JOBS THAT DON'T PAY OR MIGHT NOT BE THERE.

Please by all means point to them.

"I think most here can."

Any takers?

"Supply and demand is now broken. It's all now in the favor of business - period. Bring on the talking points."

Supply and demand isn't -- say again, ISN'T -- broken. You're showing that you don't even know what this law is. There is a greater supply of labor now available to an employer, thereby the demand for any particular employee who is not otherwise outstanding is reduced. That is following the law of supply and demand to the spirit and letter.

You're just saying it must be "broken" because it's not favoring you or your friends at the moment. The Law of Supply and Demand is what it is, and has nothing more to do with making sure everyone is fat and happy than the law of gravity. Sometimes you're on the upside, sometimes you're on the downside. What you're saying is like saying that because I fell and hurt myself the other day, the law of gravity must be "broken" because it should always work in my favor and never cause me to get hurt.

Now bring on YOUR "talking points".
