MISDEMEANORS: Ship didn't have paperwork or show it could clean up spill.

Alaska prosecutors Thursday filed criminal charges against Greenpeace, saying the activist group broke environmental laws by not submitting oil spill prevention documents before its ship entered state waters.

First these criminals decimate our logging industry and now they want to rub salt in our wounds by shutting down the last remnants of a once vibrant industry. Anyone checked the price of lumber at Home Depot or Lowe's lately? If you haven't, you're in for a huge shock. Sorry about the excerpt...I hate them, but FR made me do it.

"We're dealing with the issue but we're maintaining focus on the forest," said spokeswoman Mary MacNutt from the Arctic Sunrise.

You just cannot make this stuff up.

"It was a clerical error about paperwork and not about environmental protection," Gregory said. "We're Greenpeace. Of course we want to work within all environmental laws."

DEC Commissioner Ernesta Ballard in a statement said there was no such thing as a paperwork violation.

"Compliance is not a mere technicality. We require evidence of spill response capability because we know that any ship can hit a rock at any time," Ballard said in the statement.

Thanks for posting this. I considered posting the first article a week or so ago after they had been cited. Damn these people. "We're Greenpeace" ... Okay. Great. That makes you marxists f--ks and gives me moral obligation to see you get your ass kicked.

The ship was ordered to anchor July 14 until the documents were filed. The ship resumed its passage in violation of the order and was stopped again, according to DEC.

The ship and the activists were in Angoon on Thursday, headed to Juneau.

This clip makes it sound like they were at least halted again. But, I don't know an up to the minute report. If they were anybody other than bad people, I'd say they were still stopped. But, they aren't good people so they may have taken off again.

I'm gonna have to change my tagline to include in U.S. waters too. Bastards.

Sometimes I really am proud to be an Alaskan! Actually for all the froggies faults they did do one thing right a few years back. When one of the greenpeas boats encroached on one of their warships they shot it out of the water. Hope it didn't leave too much of an oilslick.
