Does this mean that all are eligible to vote in Washington State in November?
FORT LEWIS, Wash. -- The Army said Thursday it plans to transfer 3,900 troops from Fort Polk, La., to Fort Lewis to create another Stryker Brigade Combat Team.
The soldiers of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment are expected to arrive at Fort Lewis, near Tacoma, during the next fiscal year, which runs from October 2004 to October 2005, said U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks, D-Wash.
The move is part of the Army's transformation to a more mobile force and is centered around its new medium-weight Stryker vehicles. The Army's first two Stryker teams were based at Fort Lewis - one of them is now in Iraq - and additional Styrker brigades have been created in Alaska and Hawaii.
"The remarkable performance of the Stryker Brigade from Fort Lewis in Iraq has been a true 'proof of concept' and it has encouraged us to accelerate the plans for additional Stryker units," Dicks said.
He said he expected the move would require further construction at Fort Lewis. Since 2000, Dicks said, Congress has approved more than $300 million in military construction work at the base.
The addition of 3,900 troops at Fort Lewis would bring the total number of soldiers based there to about 24,500.
I had the pleasure of working with TF 1-501 last summer during the Stryker testing at Ft Knox. In 35 years of Army I have not worked with a more professional organization. I salute them.

Louisiana is a great place for mountain training, isn't it?
