They could photograph and computer interpret license tags, too, if they wanted. Since tags display to the general public, there would be no privacy law violation in that. The only thing about the e-pass is that it's cheaper.

That's already being done in a number of states. There's no control over what the govt puts on their poles, but there is a lot of control over what is in your personal vehicle.
