Iraq-bound 2nd Infantry Division soldiers prepare for combat convoy live-fire training at Rodriguez Range, South Korea.

Rodriguez Range is a good place for combat convoy live fire. There was a tank trail running north-south along the east side of the range that would be perfect for that.

Should work okay, if the insurgents in Iraq pop up wearing only yellow and the civilians wear only white...

Imagine that. A man with the last name Patton advocating an offensive-attack mindset to dealing with the enemy. As far as I'm concerned it's the ONLY mindset we should have for the entire War on Terror.

To quote General George S. Patton -

"There is only one tactical principle which is not subject to change. It is to use the means at hand to inflict the maximum amount of wound, death, and destruction on the enemy in the minimum amount of time."

"Our basic plan of operation is to advance and to keep on advancing regardless of whether we have to go over, under, or through the enemy. We are going to go through him like cr@p through a goose; like s**t through a tin horn!"

I wonder if Col. Patton is related to the Ol' Blood n' Guts?

I like this offensive mindset. But I think they should take it a step further and think in terms of using the convoys as bait not only to attrit the enemy's numbers but for prisoner snatches as well.

Perhaps some vehicle modifications should be in order, extra armor to make them less vulnerable to RPG's and IPE's, but not visible so they look like helpless ol' trucks. The canvas(?) topped trucks could conceal the equivalent of rolling pillboxes -- armor plates with holes just big enough for machine guns (240 Bravos) and a decent view for the gunners.

The land equivalent of a Q-ship...
