The negotiations over the amount of compensation evacuated settlers would be entitled to under the framework of the disengagement plan are to begin next week.
NRG Maariv has learnt that a representative of 80 families, which make up the core of four Samaria settlements slated for evacuation Ganim, Kadim, Sanur and Homesh, will meet with Justice Ministry officials.
In the meeting, the settlers attorney, Yossef Tamir, will ask the officials to clarify over which criteria will the amount of compensation be calculated. The state attorneys, however, are expected only to lay out the details of the plan before Tamir and to present the scheduled timetable for evacuations.
According to Tamir, The issue of the amount of compensation may not come up during the first meeting. There are things that must be determined prior to that. For instance, the Knesset should legislate the preservation of the rights of the evacuees. When Yamit was evacuated the Basic Law: Persons Honor and Freedom did not exist. It remains to be seen in which way the disengagement law would refer to the Basic Law, which protects people from harming their honor or property.
Tamir emphasized that among his clients are those who declared they would not evacuate voluntarily but do wish to legally backup their interests if the struggle fails and they would be forced to leave their homes.

Don't most of the settlers get tax breaks, etc...to move to the territories in the first place?
Do they buy the houses? Who owns the house and/or land?
Is there an 'Israeli Settlement FAQ' link somewhere?
Thanks
