Nope. I think he was after my time... I left there after the 88 election.

The 1983 film, "Terms of Endearment", starring Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger, was filmed in Lincoln, Nebraska while Bob Kerrey was Nebraska's Governor. Debra Winger & Bob Kerrey became a number for a while during and after that. The joke in Lincoln was that Debra Winger came to town and "swept him off his foot". Debra visited Kerrey several times after the filming, staying with him in the Governor's Mansion. Once she was stopped driving one of the Governor's State owned vehicles and since that was supposed to be prohibited, it created a bit of a stir.

Kerrey was in Viet Nam, went ashore one night, took his men the wrong way (did not follow orders) into a mine field. Kerrey had one foot blown off in that incident. Somehow he was awarded the Medal of Honor for that bit of stupidity.

Kerrey ran for the US Senate and won a seat after serving as Governor. While a senator, when Klintoon put through his major tax increase at the beginning of his first term, Kerrey, who said he was against it in principle, cast the deciding vote for that increase, saying that Klintoon, as President, should get the tax increase because he asked for it (or something to that effect).

While governor of Nebraska, Kerrey was close to the people involved in two savings and loan disasters that resulted from mismanagement and some crooked stuff. Kerrey, however, remained unscathed by his association and likely involvement in those disasters that cost many mid to low income Nebraskans their life savings.

If anyone would like to add more to this brief bio on Bob Kerrey, be my guest!
