What I don't understand is how Berger thought he could get away with this. Did he think they had this wired, that he could simply lift the documents and not be caught? Secondly, as I understand it, the FBI (beyond searching his office and home) have not been in contact with him. So what has Berger been thinking these past 7 or 8 months? Did he think the investigation would just go nowhere so he didn't inform Kerry?
He did this over a period of time, as we all know. I wonder if the DOJ has started looking at his phone records to see what numbers he called during the time period he took the documents.
I heard an interesting tidbit on one of the shows (was it the babe guest on Hardball who used to work for Berger?) say Berger had spoken with authorities in April...Thought we could file that away in our minds. I haven't seen it in an article.
