Feds, Mexico pledge to improve safety of Hispanic workers in U.S.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. today signed agreements with Mexico pledging to improve compliance with labor laws and increase safety for Hispanic workers in America.

The declaration involving the Labor Department does not include more funding or an increase in inspections and enforcement.

Department and Mexican government officials plan to build on existing initiatives aimed at reaching out to employers and Spanish-speaking workers.

The Associated Press reports the death toll for Mexican-born workers has soared, with one dying every day on average in the U.S. -- based on federal statistics.

In the mid-1990s, Mexicans working in the United States were about 30 percent more likely to die than U.S.-born workers; in 2002, they were about 80 percent more likely.

Meanwhile, a Hispanic safety and health conference opens tomorrow in Orlando, Florida.

From another article on this same subject:

[U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine] "Chao said under the agreement, Mexican nationals illegally working in the U.S. will have full and fair compensation, and legal protection and assistance from the Departments of Labor and Agriculture, the newspaper said."

So...

Attention Employers - If you violate the law by hiring illegal aliens you better treat 'em right, ya hear?

As if the Mexican government cared about the safety of workers in Mexico.

As if the Mexican government cared about the safety of workers in Mexico.

That's because when they're employed in their own country they don't send back remittances. When in the U.S., it is imperative for Mexico to see to it that their workers stay safe so they can...

Keep the Mexican government out of the USA and out of our sovreignty --- for one --- what has the Mexican government done about the murders in Ciudad Juarez? What has the Mexican government done to stop drug cartel violence? Or to improve the lives of it's citizens still in Mexico?

UnFriggenBelievable! I certainly wish the Mexican government could have pledged to keep my brother's friend safe from the Mexican Police. They not only beat the crap out of him, but they robbed him as well and then let him go!

They don't have to. Bush has probably turned over the entire store to Vincente Fox, and we'll learn about it after the election. Fox can use the assets that belong to America to feather his own political nest, and that of his wife's. No matter who wins this election - even if it is Hillary, Vincente will be our co-President.

Send Back The Money!

I was surfing the radio, and stopped on some show. The guest said that there are 8 countries whose GDP depends on said
remittances from the US. Mexico, Guatemala, ...

Probably the Philippines too.

I read this earlier today in El-Universal. The first Mexican report that I saw called this the Luna Declaration. I think the reporters got this mixed up with another story as this article was pulled.

However, I have to agree with the Mexicans on this. Our politicians are mooning us. They are showing us their a$$.

Also, the Mexican newspapers are talking about an increase in wages for these illegals.
