Sen. John W. Warner's office acknowledged late Tuesday that the Virginia Republican arranged for religious activists to use a Senate office building last March for a ceremony in which the Rev. Sun Myung Moon declared himself the Messiah and said his teachings have helped Hitler and Stalin be "reborn as new persons."

Well, I think the info's been floating around for awhile, yet not confirmed by Warner.
Yet, as you say, timing is strange because he was the one who came out of the WMD briefing and made the positive statement.

Since when?
I don't think Warner is a friend of the religious right.
And Moon is not part of the religious right.
