SANDY BERGER NO CHARGES!!! (No verification.)

No way Berger simply walks on this. There is a report that he has already offered "deals" to plead to lesser charges to the Justice Dept., and they weren't going for it. Unless he simply gives up Bubba himself, "he aint gonna get no munity, no sir!"

This story is pretty much dead (IMO) - because the media will not allow it to get legs - I've had some emails with Aaron Brown last night and today that boggle my mind (with his biasness - Yet he acts like even the suggestion of any "bias" by CNN or the media at large is simply beyond him)

For all purposes what Mr. Brown see's as the story is "why did the leak occur" (which of course is the DEM talking point) -

However, if I had to bet - this leak came from a DEM - probably out of the Clinton camp - (just like during impeachment - Lanny Davis would leak and leak - small things that were somewhat negative against Clinton - but then they would attack these "obvious Ken Star leaks" as terrible and just shows this is a witch hunt from the start -

So the media would go along and attack Ken Star for leaking (when they knew he was forbid by court order to come out and defend his office as not making the leaks) - And it was the Clinton team leaking all along (and the media knew this!! - because Davis was their "source" -

That would be unseemly and would signal all out partisan warfare.

And what we've got now is not partisan warfare?

Oh, well, perhaps you're right -- it takes two sides to make war, and thus far we've only got Dems on a bloody warpath, and the Pubbies hiding under desks, fearing to be "unseemly" as Rome burns.

Not to worry -- we'll have a (fearsome, awe-inspring and totally ignored) Congressional investigation instead. Just posted on NRO:

The American people deserve to know why Mr. Berger apparently skirted the law and removed highly classified terrorism documents, purportedly in his pants, from a secure reading room at the National Archives and then proceeded to lose or destroy some of them.

"How could President Clinton's former National Security Advisor be so cavalier?

"Was Mr. Berger trying to cover-up key facts regarding intelligence failures during his watch?

"What happened to those missing documents?

"Whose hands did they fall into?

"What kind of security risk does that pose to Americans today?

"I know Chairman Tom Davis (R-VA) will work to get the full truth of what really happened and help all of us better understand why Sandy Berger, a person who should fully understand the gravity and importance of sensitive national security materials, would operate with such overt negligence and apparent disregard for the law."

Attention!! This is a shame I suspected Berger would walk because they are only questioning what he removed. I want to know what document he replaced with sterilized information.

That is an interesting question. Here's another: what safeguards are in place to prevent someone from BRINGING IN documents that are made up to look like classified documents?

and until the stupid Republican party starts playing hardball and stops this being nice and polite, we will get shafted again and again...

yes....the first thing the Toon did was to fire all US attorneys thereby stopping the investigation into Whitewater and the Rose law firm and the rest....
