SEN. SAXBY CHAMBLISS: 'Reportedly these documents are related to homeland security and then suddenly we see the Kerry campaign came forward with what may have been illegal documents. This is sensitive stuff and was a significant breach of security...Kerry knows better than to use these documents,' Chambliss says in a press conference.

SEN. GORDON SMITH: 'There is a curious connection between the removal of these documents and the Kerry press conference on port security..It's disappointing what people might do as they try and take the President down.

"Kerry is a shady SOB. A lot of indies and mods are going to be turned off by this."

That is what wins elections for us or the rats.

Who ever attracts the most independent/moderate voters wins. The converse, who ever turns off the most independent/moderate voters loses.

Is there an actual video of Berger? (Sorry if this has been answered 1,000 times.)

The Captain's Quarters blog (http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/)
suggests that if Berger were to have received any classified briefings as a member of the Kerry campaign (i.e., like the security briefing Kerry was "too busy" to attend for a while), Berger's clearance would have been suspended at some point in past months due to this investigation. And Kerry would have had to know Berger lost his clearance, which belies Kerry's claim that he just found out yesterday.

I THINK THIS IS AN IMPORTANT POINT. WHAT DID KERRY KNOW, AND WHEN DID HE KNOW IT?

This has hit the public at the right time to negate any negatives from the 911 Report ... how much credibility can the report have when all on the committee had to have been privy to the fact that one of their star wirtnesses (Berger) was guilty of stealing documents from the archives prior to his testimony before their hearings?

Sorry if someone has asked this - - I'm a little late to the party. Are there video cameras in the rooms at the National Archives? If so, I think someone may have been on "candid camera"!

Yup, it's faster that way.

I wonder if Kerry will be forced to step down.

This is so damaging. Kerry is really exposed on this.

"Oh, if half of this is true, Kerry's going down with an HISTORIC BANG!"

I wish I could share your "optimism," but - based on what we know at the present time - I don't see this as being any more than a minor, transient embarrassment for Kerry. If he were a Republican, this story would be probed and poked and prodded for weeks . . . but he's a Democrat, so it probably won't.

I called Senator Santorum's DC office about 5:45 EDT to speak about Sandy Burgler and the admin told me the phone has been ringing off the hook since first thing this morning, all on the same issue. And, she was hearing the same comments! (Way to go, FReepers! Don't let the old media shape the debate.) Implored her to request Santorum go on the floor and ask, "What did Kerry know, and when did he know it?" I don't think she was old enough to understand, however.

(800) 839-5276, toll-free to the congressional switchboard. These numbers get pulled pretty frequently so take advantage of it while it's out there.

Has Kerry been seen in public today??

Yes, kite surfing. He's really worried about our national security, isn't he?

Found this at CNN, Friday, February 27, 2004 Posted: 9:05 AM EST :

Kerry's major public event today is a speech on terrorism and national security at UCLA at 1 p.m. ET. Two hours before that, the three wise men who helped craft Kerry's speech -- former Clinton national security adviser Sandy Berger, former U.N. Ambassador Richard Holbrooke and Kerry's foreign policy adviser, Rand Beers -- will hold a conference call to brief reporters on the speech.

Thanks. In that first AP article, the Archivists said they saw Berger put the documents in his pants. I doubt they were standing right there while he did it. Where were they and how did the see him? Surveillance cameras?

It seems to me that maybe there was not video surveillance during the Clinton admin., which may be why Berger thought he could get away with this. We know that after 9.11.2001, the Bush admin. has been taking extra steps to secure national intelligence and that they are much more careful than the Clinton admin. concerning this type of info. Just a thought.

Curiouser and curiouser . . .
