Somebody help me here. Why does Sandy Berger, no longer in a classified government position, still have a security clearance?

IIRC, Top Secret Clearance is good for five years, after which it would have to be renewed.

It was reported on the radio today while I was out that he was going over items for his testimony. Still, if it were important, why didn't he have a pen and paper to write down specific points? That is what I do in my genealogy research. I have notebooks full of "stuff".

Why does Sandy Berger, no longer in a classified government position, still have a security clearance?

I can understand his security clearance still being valid but won't this be cause for it to be forever revoked? I would think so.
