Berger Story -- Dem Talking Points -- It's The Timing of the Leak, Not the Offense!
CNN ^ | 07-20-04 | cww

Posted on 07/20/2004 1:09:02 PM PDT by CWW

Have you noticed the consistent media spin about the theft of the confidential documents by former Clinton National Security Advisor Sandy Berger -- "It's the timing of the leak that's curious" -- not the fact that Berger engaged in illegal conduct they may invovle Clinton or Kerry.

I have now heard this spin on CNN radio, Fox News and, of course, the Today Show.

If Berger had been a Republican, do you think the media would give a rats a@@ abouth the "timing of the disclosure?"

Hey Sandy. Are those documents in your pants or are you just glad to see me?

IIRC, Top Secret Clearance is good for five years, after which it would have to be renewed.

It's no big deal! Everybody does it, shoving top secret documents in your underpants.

Everybody does it!

Everybody does it!

Did I say "Everybody does it"?

It's nothing! Everybody shoves top secret documents in their underpants.

It was reported on the radio today while I was out that he was going over items for his testimony. Still, if it were important, why didn't he have a pen and paper to write down specific points? That is what I do in my genealogy research. I have notebooks full of "stuff".

Our local newscaster said Clinton left office 3 1/2 years ago but his staff is still causing scandals.

It's like the Kennedy staff conspiring to table judicial nominations with the NAACP. That isn't as important as discoving the conspiracy by reading someone else's email. Keep this away from Orrin Hatch so they don't get away with it this time.

I want to know why we weren't told earlier! I think they leaked it to take off the sting!

If anything it adds to the sting. The report is coming out in a few days and this will be in the news for at least that long. If it came out after the report it wouldn't leave as big as a impact. Someone either just out played the commission or someone who knew something about this got a conscience.

How much do you want to bet that the Bush administration WILL NOT prosecute Sandy for his sloppiness.

At least some of the documents appear to be related to the Millennium Plot Report. Ashcroft has detailed some of what was conatined in the report.

Mark Levin wrote the quintessential column on this issue. I suspect anyone who tunes into his show tonight (in NYC, 6 PM on WABC or webcast) will leave with a FULL understanding of the significance of all this.

Warming up in the bullpen? The Ice Queen?

She's so cold that if she had fallen into the Crack of Doom before Gollum, Sauron would still rule Middle Earth.

Hillary's doing that right now. She knows about such things.

Why does Sandy Berger, no longer in a classified government position, still have a security clearance?

I can understand his security clearance still being valid but won't this be cause for it to be forever revoked? I would think so.
