I'd love to see "The Silmarillion" as a film too.Silmarillion is a bunch of disconnected stories, it would be like filming the Old Testament. Any of the individual chapters and stories could be adapted to film and be better.

Silmarillion is a bunch of disconnected stories, it would be like filming the Old Testament. Any of the individual chapters and stories could be adapted to film and be better. Yes, that'd be the one obstacle. If anyone wanted to make it more-or-less as it is in print, I doubt any studio might want to take on the risk.

It's exactly like the Old Testament, since it is the story of creation and a history spanning thousands of years.
It's pretty, in fact it's prettier than the Lord of the Rings, which sees a world which is much older and decaying.
The Hobbit will make the best movie of them all, because it's very easy to follow the storyline.
