Hmmmm....I put a pot of water on the stove and turn it on to warm. The water gets warm. I turn the heat to medium; the water gets warmer. I turn it to high and the water boils.

I dunno....the sun gets hotter, the earth gets hotter--sounds kinda whacky to me.
