mathluv, thanks for the reminder, "Of course, all of this stuff with Berger took place BEFORE Reno outed them all by saying it was just an alert border guard who saved the day when she was testifying before the committee."

I was watching Reno's testimony when she said that. Oh what I'd give for a magic C-Span camera replay...with the camera zooming in for a Gorelick close-up, as Reno spoke.

His testimony before the Commission was while he is under investigation. Let not that point ever be forgotten.

^^^^^^

These timelines get very complicated and so ignored by our overloaded brains. While Clinton, Berger and Lindsay sat before the commission, they knew that they had stolen documents from the Archives.

I remember the badgering of Dr Rice by ben Veniste regarding the title of a briefing paper that the cmmissioners wanted her to expose.

Did those commissioners know what Berger had done? I think so. If Berger and Lindsay knew about the investigation, I seriously doubt that they kept that fact from Gorelick and ben Veniste.

We need to replay those appearances to show the hypocrisy. I hope some of the Fox shows will do this as the story unfolds.

****

Another flashback: Ashcroft being insulted by Biden during his testimorny this spring. It must have taken all the composure of a truly strong man to keep civil.

Chappaquacide

Has a nice fit for Teddy Kennedy too, particularly with the "aqua" in the middle of the word.

Maybe this "secure room" needs more security or, at least, more assertive security personnel.

Or get rid of the infestation of Democrat, career government employees. Why would they call Clinton's former deputy White House counsel, Bruce Lindsay? Except as a heads up warning to fire up the spin machine.

Re Media coverage;

When I turned on C-SPAN this morning J D Haworth was using a 5-minute speech slot to put this Berger stuff into the Cong. Record. One or two more Congressmen spoke, and then C-SPAN went to a reairing of the morning call-in show.

A caller from San Francisco! said that she was surprised that the CSPAN guy had not mentioned the Berger item in his list of morning news events. (This had to have been live between 4 and 5 am Pacific time.)

The host's response was he did not mention it because he thought that everybody had already heard about it.!!! Then he showed the front page of USA Today which did have the Berger story in the upper right-hand corner headline. Nothing in the story was highlighted, so I think that he was hoping that he would not have to address the whole situation.

'Well, I seem to remember a quote from Clinton to the effect that he wished the attack on the WTC had happened on his watch. Anybody have that quote?'

I remember hearing that. How about another question? What would have happened if this had been on the toon's watch? What would be the status of the Patriot Act? Would he have declared martial law, and not left office?

Rush is giving this excellent coverage today. With a dim, the question is who leaked it. If it were Condi being charged, it would be all over every where.

There is a story behind the story here. The fact that he took the docs on at least 5 separate occassions shows that he knew exactly what he was taking and why. We could be looking at Watergate II.....except this time, the former POTUS actually did direct not just a coverup, but the actual theft.

It may not be that serious....perhaps Berger acted alone. But, this is more than just a theft.

Who would be in a position to order Sandy Berger to steal classified documents for him or her? Clinton

Who stood to benefit from the documents disappearing? Clinton

When the documents were discovered missing, whose lawyer was called? Clinton's

Is this what the 9/11 Commission means by connecting the dots?

What A Great Post BUMP! (Those questions keep repeating in my brain)

You know, I feel ALMOST guilty for what I'm thinking about Clinton. I believe it was Ashcroft who said that Clinton knew about Al Quida's plans SEVENTEEN MONTHS before 9/11. And did nothing! Could Clinton really be so lacking in conscience, so ego ridden, that he'd allow the murder of his countrymen to enhance his own reputation? If so, he goes down in history with Stalin, Lenin, Hitler and Saddam.

And, yes, he would have declared martial law and refused to step down.

***I'd really like to ask W why he allows crap like that to happen. He should have 90% of those Klintonoid scum behind bars by now, and instead he lets them sit on important commissions.

What is he thinking?***

dsc, I can only guess what Dubya is thinking, but my guess is that he's waiting for enough American people to finally realize how evil the Clintons and their helpers from hell really are, and for the American people to DEMAND they be tried and jailed.

He needs the Clintons and their spawns of the devil to be totally exposed before he can bring them to justice.

Oherwise, the country will be torn apart.

And remember, Bush has had a war to fight. Please, God, let him be re-elected.

Yep, and the news article clearly said that the guards notified Lindsay of the missing docs after Berger's handling of them. THEY KNEW!

"Pres. Clinton's national security adviser is under investigation...has admitted...has offered to cooperate fully."

You will notice, however, that the pig liberal media doesn't spin this as "Kerry Advisor Investigated for Stealing Classified Information." No. We're back to Clinton, even though Berger's relationship with Kerry is more recent.

Maybe he'll defect to France.
