Gergen didn't actually say that but implied it. Gergen was saying how great a person Berger was and couldn't beleive he would do such a thing, blah, blah, blah.

It sounds like Gergen tried to imply it's a Republican dirty trick to release this information before the convention and the release of the 9/11 Commission report.
