Sept 11 panel interviews Clinton in private

New York: The US commission investigating the September 11 terrorist attacks met in private with former President Bill Clinton who was "exceedingly generous" and "very candid" in his discussions.
"President Clinton supports and has been cooperating with the commission, and hopes that its work will make America safer."
The Clinton associate, who spoke on condition of anonymity with the Times, said the former president had taken a break from the manuscript of his memoir, due out this summer, to prepare for the session with the help of his former national security advisor, Samuel R Berger, who testified earlier, and with his longtime legal adviser, Bruce Lindsey.
Clinton, the report said, has past acquaintance with virtually all the commission members, and close familiarity with some of the Democrats, including former Senator Bob Kerrey who competed against him for the Democratic nomination in 1992; Jamie S Gorelick, who was his deputy attorney general; and Richard Ben-Veniste, an ex Watergate prosecutor who testified before the House Judiciary Committee against Clinton's impeachment over Monica Lewinsky affair in 1998.

The day that Berger took the documents will be very interesting to find out. Maybe it was the day that old Teddy got up on the Senate floor and called President Bush a liar.
