He's right on this point regardless of his other views. The primaries are an unmitigated disaster. I watched those old time conventions and they certainly did a far better job than the farce we have today.
I also hate the primaries. If GW doesn't win, I'm stuck with one of the worst possible alternatives. I would much prefer that GW run against Joe Lieberman. Here in NJ we never had any say in who the Dem candidate would be. I would still vote for GW, but if GW were to lose, Lieberman at least wouldn't be the disaster that Kerry would be.
The next great movement in American politics will be reform. Not the Reform Party, mind you. But reform.
The People are resigned to the fact that both political parties will sell them out at the drop of a hat. The party that convinces them that they will not do this will reap tremendous rewards.
I agree. I know next to nothing about Reese in fact, only that he's a columnist who's work appears on FR occasionally. Whatever else he has to say, he is right on this issue.
