The San Diego Chapter of Free Republic is excited to welcome the founder of Free Republic, Jim Robinson and his family. In honor of this visit, the SD Chapter is hosting a dinner. Here are the details:
Date:
Saturday, July 24, 2004
Time:
4-4:30 p.m.
Place:
Olive Garden Restaurant
3215 Sports Arena Blvd.
San Diego, CA 92110
Attire:

"onyx" and "doodlelady" via FReepmail
to make your reservation.
Those who want to attend the dinner should plan on paying for their own meals, as well as being asked to contribute an extra couple of dollars to cover the Robinson family dinners.
We cannot make reservations on a Saturday night, and therefore, please do your best to arrive before 4:30 pm so we have a better chance of being able to sit together. I will be there by 4 pm.

Olive Garden?
sounds nice but
Why not rent a giant banquet hall and invite all Freepers? Oh wait, we're not liberals who can get government or a foundation to pay for things.
I hope you guys enjoy.

Thank you very much. We're looking forward to some exciting events in San Diego. It's not every day that you get to welcome a new carrier to its homeport. And a carrier named in honor of one of our greatest presidents ever! And I'm honored to be invited to dinner with our San Diego Chapter.
By the way, San Diego was also the homeport of one of the destroyers I served on, so It'll be like a homecoming for me too. Though that was 35 years ago. How the time flies. LOL
To: Jim Robinson
You're so welcome, Jim. I'm sure we'll have a rousing crowd to celebrate your return to San Diego.
I'm still waiting for the remaining information regarding the voter registration on Friday. I hope to post that thread tomorrow.
When I talked to KUSI, they said they were informed to have their TV crews in place by 10 a.m. However, KUSI says it will begin coverage at 5:30 a.m. They may have somebody onboard .. they didn't tell me.

The 925 mile distance to San Diego is a bit of an impediment to a casual dinner activity. I would love to join you at the dinner. I will be visiting my mom and my son the weekend of July 30th -> August 1. Arriving in town on Friday afternoon in "drive time" traffic will be a good reminder of why I moved to Idaho :-)
