Are you saying that the only thing that I should consider is price? As long as their are viable alternatives, I will continue to boycott French companies, and notify the companies of my decision. It has nothing to do with price. Why should I support the companies or country that has motives that I don't agree with, unless I have no other choice... In the three cases I mentioned, I WAS going to buy their products, but I wound up with substitutes that I was perfectly happy with...
In the case of my motorcycle, I have a Ducati 900SP, and it came equiped with Dunlop tires. I've bought Dunlops twice since I bought it, but I was giving thought to using Michellin Pilots, since those are the tires used by the Ducati World Superbike team. But then the French opposed the US interests, and I no longer had any wish to support a French company. So I bought the Dunlops, which are wonderful tires.
In the case of the hotel, I spent an extra $20 on the hotel room, and it was far nicer than the normal Motel 6 room that I stay in. Again, I think that my call to Motel 6's corporate offices was more effective than sending the $20 I would have saved to a charity. And finally, I was interested in getting a revolver, but I decided that I wanted another 1911, one that I could eventually turn into a CCW weapon...
Oh, and the cases of the tires and the handgun, I saved money money on both.
