I can understand why the French don't want the jews to leave. If they did, the Muslims would then seek the next target upon which to vent their hatred.

I can understand why the French don't want the jews to leave. I suspect many of the French would like very much for the Jews to leave. They just don't want to be seen as wanting them to leave.
