I can't say we've had many problems with Russians in North Texas. Their criminal element seems to stick to the east and west coasts.
We have 75,000 immigrants from former USSR countries here in Sacramento, CA. Many are involved in crime, but the vast majority whom I deal with are hardworking, assimilating American immigrants. They remind me of what I've read of the early Italian and Irish immigrants. Crime was a path for some, but the opportunities in America, combined with their values, created much of what our great country is today.
But, I believe the hordes sweeping up from Mexico and Central America are mostly doomed. They will, as the author stated, become a "permanent underclass", banned from our gated communities after dark. And for many, doomed to a life of violence, poverty and prison.
