Not to me it isn't. I'm not in a 'risk group.'

If on the miniscule chance a cure is found and the behavior that allowed it to become an epidemic resumes, a new pathogen will arise. Reason: not religion -- microbiology.

Indeed. AIDS research is for those who want to have their cake and eat it too. They do not want to remove themselves from risky behavior.

How in the world he can claim that AIDS is the most important issue on the PLANET?? He is obsessive/compulsive on this issue, apparently. There are PLENTY of other things to be concerned about. You don't catch AIDS from casual contact, remember, as they constantly remind us?? Just advocate stopping the behavior, and AIDS and other bio-hazards will become ineffective...

Do note that Gere is yucking it up in China while Tibet is still an opressed state. I guess he feels bashing Bush to be a more worthy goal.
